Is Your Pop Up Camper PROTECTED? | How to SAFELY Hook Up Your Pop Up | Water, Electric, & Gray Water
ty ty ty!
Indoor lights don't work? You may have a safety button that engages when you flip the sink. You can make the yellowed plastic look new using a process with 12% peroxide cream.
As a new pop-up camper owner, thus us great information. Thanks for making the video!
Two minute intro!?
Just got one last weekend thanks for the heads up!
How well dose the heater work? That is to ask for example how cold can it be outside and still maintain say 70 degrees inside the camper. Also I see it has a blower. How long will the battery last? Thanks!
Do you happen to have the owners manual in pdf? Do you know where I can download it? I just bought the same camper and cant find it online at all. Asked Jayco customer service by email and completely ignored (but to include me in their email marketing list of course they were fast)
Great helpful videos. You might want to mention in many locations that you shouldn't drain any antifreeze or bleach solutions into storm drains as they often go into fish bearing streams etc. and this will result in significant stream habitat damage. Its a hassle but it needs to go into a septic or city drainage system from a grey storage.
I am VERY new at camping and just purchased a like new 2013 Forest River Flagstaff pop up. The electrical system is concerning me because, even with the 30 amp shore power plugged in to my house with a 15amp adapter, the wall socket works fine, but neither the overhead lights or the ceiling exhaust fan work. I have a 110 volt fan plugged in the wall socket and it works immediately. I checked the breakers, the cord, the adapter, but no fan or lights. Then, all the sudden after about 20 minutes I tried them again, and now they work. Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or is something amiss? Thank you very your time!
What are those clips you're using to hang dry the towels? Great idea.
The LED strip looks great! There are awning LED strip kits that for about $50 that are better suited for a camper. They include a C-channel & 3M adhesive strips that grips to the side of the camper. The LED strip itself is encased in a silicone sleeve to make it waterproof which then locks into the C-channel. It comes with a RF remote (rather than infrared) so the remote can be anywhere to change the color. You don't to line of sight to the controller.
Don't think I've ever heard popup camper so many times in my life😂
I just got my first pop up (a 1989 Coleman Sun Valley) and I just wanted to let you know like so many others that your videos are my go to for everything. I just finished the sanitization process for the water tanks! Keep em coming and I'll be watching every single one!
Very nice thank you . I have an older StarCraft popup with the circle holder for the flush. Is the water supposed to work for the toilet just being hooked up to the campsite water hose? Or do I need to have the electric pump on which I thought was supposed to be used for the water holding tank? I don’t have water running when I twist the circle.
Hey, great vid any thoughts on why the same model electric flush will not work? I changed the fuses and they are good to go, does the campers water pump need to be on or does the cassette toilet have its own individual pump that could be malfunctioning? Would there be any other switches that I am missing?
It’s self contained and does not use the campers water pump.
Did you ever made the video about the cooler roll up mod? I am buying that popup tomorrow and will love to do that mod but I have no idea about the door, etc
@@ItsPoppincan you please tell me what’s the size of the door? 16 x16? I’m trying to buy one. That same cooler nobody have it for sale anymore, I hope I can fine something similar but I have no idea about the door
Sorry I misunderstood your comment. We did finish the mod and you’re correct, that cooler is discontinued. We bought the door off of eBay so it may also be not available. I would size the door to your specific cooler if you’re looking to do the same.
So it’s been like a year where is the new videos out man are you hiding from the rest the world did you give up on us people to camp and follow you for your advice and seek new products you have to recommend where is to do videos, come on man
thank you very the great and direct information! very useful channel
Why even bother coming to fit just measure cut it the lengths that you need and then put it in there and zip it up get up it doesn't have to be so detailed be so detailed
Very good advice! You saved a lot of people from making the same mistakes.
Can I use Starbright on the inside of the pop outs if it’s the fuzzy stuff inside?
At what age does the butyl tape generally need to be replaced? I think you said that yours was a 2008 Jayco. We just bought a 2017 Jayco, and I think it will need caulking this year, but not sure if I need to do the butyl tape. Thanks.
How do you know how much water to put in the tank?
How is the condensation with these insulation options you have done in winter.
Does the battery charge while generator is running
If it charges normally while hooked up to shore power, yes.
Thanks sooooo much
Hi there. Have you ever installed an exterior plug outlet on your pop up? Ours is a 2022 flagstaff and doesn’t have one but it would make a world of difference. Just don’t know how I feel about cutting into the sidewall especially where it’s still under warranty. Thanks!!
Do you know if you can use 1"x 12" pvc board to replace the roof side rail. Also, how much weight needed to be supported by the brackets that get mounted for the lift system?
First time owner! Thank you for the detailed list. Just sent to the entire family before we head out on our first road trip.
Have fun!
Couple of questions: After being hooked up to city water, should I drain the hot water heater when returning home? Also, any tips on a kitchen sink that won’t drain? When I pull the sink/burner top to the floor it will drain just fine 🤷🏼
We drain the water heater to save on weight. Do you have a long hose or something similar not allowing adequate air flow to allow for draining? If so, that may be the issue.
@@ItsPoppin Yeah, I had a longer hose and realized that may be the issue so I cut it. The end of the hose just hovers above the ground but still doesn’t seem to be flowing. I’ll have to dig into it more I’m thinking.
Mouse nests in the whiffletree can interfere with raising and lowering and damage your system
I love all your videos. They’re very educational. I just got my very first pop-up camper and know nothing about it with all of your knowledge and sharing has really helped me out. Thanks.
I Appreciate all your videos since I'm new to this pop up camping.. Question.. I've filled my holding tank with water but am not getting any water to the sink after having the pump on for a while. How long should it take to get water to the sink? When I first turn on the pump does it first fill the water heater before sending any water to the sink? TIA..
Hey thanks for the video it's very informative I bought a 97 starcraft yesterday and we got rain last night the rain water was pouring in through my AC I'm thinking I may need to replace that seal could you correct me if I'm wrong
Check the screws holding the AC down first. Second, check the drainage/weep holes in the bottom of the AC to ensure they’re not blocked. Third, replace the seal if one and/or two don’t fix the issue.
That'll take way more than 10 minutes and you said less than 10 minutes......... J/k 😂
carry an impact gun
Finding this three years too late but quick question on my pop-up there is Greece from the moving components. Mike pop-up is all canvas, an older one. Am I able to use the diluted degreaser on this?
Ouch, sorry about the typos
can you show how to properly pack the canvas when done camping, we have a pop-up and having a hard time. Thank U, love U guys videos.
Great Video.. I have a 2001 pop-up new to me.. If the battery is dead or disconnected should I be able to run the lights on the inside of the trailer from shore power? The outlets inside are working but no lights. Also when the battery is fully charged and connected are the lights supposed to work or is there another place to check to make sure all is turned on?
Yes and yes - try and find the disconnect switch for the lights and see if it’s actuated. Alternatively, check the fuses in the converter to see if one is blown.
@@ItsPoppin Thank you it was the fuse at the battery and also the battery was low.
Love the decor. Might do the same but do rwd flannel fornthe curtains. Ty for sharing
the coldest I have been out in in my PUP is upper 30's. I use reflectix in every window but there is a 4" gap at the top for venting. I did my door too. My curtains are pretty heavy so they compensate for that gap. Aside from the insulating benefit the others benefits; on the bunks they keep the moisture from wicking through the canvas flaps on to pillows and bedding, from dew and rain, light blockage, sound deadening. for the tops of all the canvas pop up gizmos or silver/green camping tarps. I strongly suggest the the gizmos are oversized and cover down to the reflectix to the bunk widows. Pop gizmos should offer you custom sizing and frankly it was not expensive and so worth it, With a IR camera the gizmos make a 30 degree differences silver side up in the summer in the winter silver side down reflects the heat back in and captures the solar energy. the other thing i did was put a awning on the driver's side. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE WHEN IT IS HOT. Plus more dry storage bikes coolers firewood, etc out from under your feet on my unit it also lets me open the windows on the dinette slide with no worry of rain getting in. I hybrid the heat I use a electric heater with two little fans to move the air around to the bunk end then set my gas furnace on about 63 as a back up. I use a 500 watt plug in so I can run my gen all night with the heater. 12' awning new $250 6/23/24 www.hannarv.com/P/38661/Dometic944NR13002TrimLineCaseAwning-Onyx-13FootLength you will need some awning track too in middle of the summer, in Florida, I can get my unit down to 78 in the direct sun with zero shade. bonus tip lastly a filet table with sink, connected to you out door shower warm water to wash dishes out side plus put a wye in the line and connect a spray nozzle like this www.amazon.com/GYMAX-Folding-Cleaning-Fillet-Hunting..... I drain mine into in vertically standing inverted 10 gallon barker tank, under the table then via a gray garden hose I run the waster water to the sewer. if no sewer I bring bigger tank with wheels using a collapsible large rectangular food strainer as the dish dryer/strainer. I have had 15 people in camp and that is a lot of cleaning
Valences not vay- lences
We have a water purification filter under our sink. Because of that, do we need one attached to the campsite water supply?
Is there anything I should use that is more gentle in the canvas besides the start brite? I’m worried to use that in case of the waterproofing issue.
Woolite or dawn dish soap diluted with water are a good place to start.
Great tips! Only thing I would caution against is using a magic eraser on the vinyl windows, you risk making them hazy over time as a magic eraser is basically sandpaper.
we just found your channel and it has been very helpful in so many ways. We purchased a 2013 Flagstaff HW27KS but it was from someone who never used it so they could not give us any tips. The manual does not explain about the water system. Any information you can provide would be much appreciated. Thank you
New pop up owner here! If I’m using block leveling, presuming you only are ever leveling one side, do you just chock the other side to prevent any forward/backward movement?
Yes
i need help with finding a left motor for my camper can you please help me
Great video!
How do I access the air conditioner filter? Thank you!
